I have just installed Thunderbird for the first time.

Previously I used windows live , however yahoo stopped working with windows live some years ago and so I have just used the yahoo webmail.

I set up gmail and another email provider with no problem. They show in thunderbird and each has a selection of all the standard folders such as inbox, sent mail deleted etc.

I added yahoo and it seemed to go OK however no folders show . It has my account name xyz @yahoo.co.uk but there are no folders under it.

If I try creating a folder such as inbox it says folder exists already. I can create an individual folder, however it is nowhere to be seen afterwards. For example I tried to create a folder called inbox-2021. It seem to create but I can't see it.

When I click on the yahoo account I get a page which offers amongst other things - read messages , write a new message , search messages , Manage message filters, end to end encryption. If I click read messages nothing happens. If I click write a new message up pops a message which I can write and send. I wrote some test messages and they were sent and arrived at my other emails. The only curios thing was the program got stuck at saving the message. This problem was solved when I use the settings to allocate a folder for sent items in my local folders. This now keeps a copy of the yahoo mails, but I cannot set up an inbox under local folders.

Thus currently I can send a Thunderbird message via yahoo.co.uk but I am unable to read them. Even using the search box, the test messages only show up in the recipient inboxes.

My Yahoo is working perfectly via the yahoo web interface which shows al the test messages both inbound and outbound.

Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, Refresh. Are the missing folders visible to be subscribed?

Hi, thanks for that, it seems to have worked. :o)

it was interesting.

When I click subscribe a dialog box pops up with all the usual folders : inbox, sent, trash etc. Also on the list was my test folder inbox-2021 which is otherwise invisible. Having brought up this dialogue box , I clicked refresh .... and at first nothing happened. The dialog box went away but my folders were still invisible until I closed and restarted Thunderbird after which all the folders have appeared. :o)

I haven't completely tested it yet but so far ,everything seems to be fine. My sent items and inbox are downloading OK from yahoo so it seems problem is solved. Outbound and inbound email tests were all successful.

Thanks :o)
