I have followed the Youtube video step by step at least 4 times start to finish, stopping the video at each step so I didn 't miss anything. It copies to my external backup drive, but when I get to the step where I chek to see if it worked, there is nothing there. I've reinstalled Thunderbird twice , but that didn't help. Can you help me? The mail program with Windows 10 is awful after using Thunderbird! Thanks, Susan Richmond

Hi Susan, I wrote the article and video on moving Thunderbird data to another computer, so I should be able to help. :)

It sounds like the data on the new computer is not being replaced. Please make sure that Thunderbird is not running when you restore your backup.

If the problem is still occurring, would you mind sending us a video of what you're seeing? For instructions, visit https://www.howtogeek.com/183231/how-to-record-your-desktop-and-create-a-screencast-on-windows/

Upload the video to a cloud service, like YouTube, OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox, and paste a link to the video in this forum thread.

Hi, Chris! We'd normally be in church at this hour but we are snowed in. I'm a little confused about the link . Do I have to download a program, or does it start up when I tap start? And I'm not sure exactly what you want me to do once the video starts. Do you want to just see the finished product (Thunderbird with nothing in it but a screen about setting up an account), or do you want me to go through the whole process start to finish? I have saved the Thunderbird file on the cloud (one drive) in my laptop, but can't see it in One drive on this desktop PC. I don't know how to make this pc see what's on the laptop One drive. I On top of all this, I'm 77 and visually impaired, and have limited knowledge of "geek" things! But I know that I have followed all the steps of your video (which was easy to do by stopping the video after each instruction, completing it, then starting again. I wish you coud take control of my pc and do it! Sorry for the long message! Hope your day is good Thank you Susan

I printed the directions and put a mark as each step was done. Still nothing. What should I see when I look into the saved file in my backup drive or on One dDrive? Here's what I do see" In each there are 3 folders: Cash Reports, Pending Pings and Profiles. The 4th item isn't a folder but a page. In the cloud version this page is Profiles.ini. The backup drive leaves off the .ini. Otherwise they are the same. Since I can't use the One Drive backup I'm using the external backup drive to try to copy and paste the data. I wish we could talk on the phone, or you take control of this PC

Sorry to be such a pest!! Thanks for your patience!!

Hi Susan, What I'm requesting is that you create a video of what you are doing. That way, we can better identify any details that need to be clarified.
