Display count of threaded messages

Currently one can see the unread, Total, size of message in an email account - using the drop down menu where the email accounts are displayed. Can we add the count of threaded messages. As each Thread refers to a task - hence displaying how many tasks are left.

I thread is a conversation. Not a task. The calendar has task and right clicking an email converts it to a task if you select the convert to menu item.. Try using tasks list to manage your tasks.

Sorry for my nomenclature and not being clear..

How can I see total number of conversations. I can currently see Total Emails, size of messages, and unread.

It's a bit clumsy, but if you select View/Sort by/Threaded, and View/Threads/Collapse all Threads, then select a set of messages in the Threads Pane (message list), the number of conversations in the selection is shown at the top of the Message Pane (F8).

Otherwise, I don't know of a way to display this in the Status Bar.

Do you have a solution for me? As you seem to have helped a lot in the past.

Thank you for your help .. is does not do what I want. If I can get a display of number of distinct conversation- like the total message. Auto displayed rather than manual. But again thank you for your suggestion

Sort by > 'Subject' and 'Ascending' and 'Grouped by sort'

this will tell you the total of threads per subject as a number at the end of each Subject; you can also enable the 'Total' column header to show same info - this is helpful if some subjects are lengthy.

Select all in folder using 'Ctrl+A' This will tell how many different conversations there are in that folder. eg: 158 actual emails in folder, but 84 different Subject conversations.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1242684#answer-1178937 is the nearest I've found to this tricky usability problem.

I'm just back after a week away and in one of my folders for a medium volume list I have 1038 messages, spread over 3 pages of threads - having the unread count (alongside the current whole thread depth) would tell me if I have the time just now for a particular thread, and also allow investigation of those that are simply 5repeats of patch series, so I can get straight to the latest..)

if your task was the more narrow " Can we add the count of threaded messages." which is just the total of read and unread messages, then this is already possible.

After setting the view method to "Sort by: threaded", you then toggle the "Quick Filter" toolbar to on (you may need to search for the different ways of starting the quick filter). You can then select the "unread" button to cycle through the unread filtering of none, thread-headings, and expanded.

To display the count you need to select the columns to display and choose 'Total' which appears to be the total number of messages in the thread.

Solution you suggest is helpful and requires manual steps. Each tIme.

I see options of displaying "Total", "Unread" and "Size" - next to each mail box. It would be so neat if one of the options would be "Threads".

Possible?
