Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

This did not work so I returned the settings to original. Any other help you could suggest? Thanks, Garrick

Did you check if setting browser.backspace_action to 2 at least had effect for the backspace key?

Note that you may have to quit Firefox after changing the pref to make it work.

  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox

Is there a special action set for the delete key if you check this in the Mac setting (System Preferences -> Keyboard)?
