A recurrent event disappeared on my Android
I had a 4-days a week recurrent event over multiple months entered on my PC (see screen shot) which sync'd perfectly from my W-10 PC to my Galaxy S7 Android. Then I realized a week or so later that the future events were missing from the S7. They remained correctly entered on my PC.
To "fix" it, from my PC, 1) First, I just tried Synchronizing. The missing recurrent events did not show up. 2) Then, I tried making an edit to the next, upcoming event in the series, selecting "Edit all occurrences," saved it, and then used the Synchronization button. The PC logged the change. Nothing appeared on the S7.
I could delete the recurrent event and re-enter it, but I'd rather get trouble-shooting input from your first.
I've used Thunderbird/Lightening now for several months -- and I REALLY like the app. I had used EssentialPIM for years and was reluctant to switch, but it was becoming unreliable. I'm glad I switched. I look forward to resolving this particular issue I'm having with the "disappeared" recurrent event.
Thank you, Gaye Lyn

How do you synchronize. The normal approach is to us a web provider such as Google and set both the phone and PC to synchronize with the web provider.
I am not aware of any plug in and synchronize options at all.
Mostly, it syncs by itself. It's one of the features I love about the app. I can enter an event on the PC and pick up the android to find that it has already sync'd. Usually in the opposite direction, entering an event into the android/S7 either takes longer to sync -- or I use the Synchronize icon on the Thunderbird app, upper left corner, on the PC. (See attached screen shot)
I'm perplexed by your question regarding Google. I use nothing external (at least that I'm aware of -- I don't know what it's using behind the scenes, but I've never deliberately set Google up for sync.) It's not a plug-in unless it came built-in with Lightening which I installed thru Firefox.
Mystery? Look forward to your response. And thanks for responding so quickly to my first inquiry. Gaye Lyn
No response to my response on 3/30 about sychro and missing recurrent events.
I still have the original problem. And had a variation of the same problem today. I deleted one in a series of recurrent events from my android S7. When I used the SYNC button on the PC, the event did not delete it on the PC. Is there a way to initiate the SYNC from the Android? Although that does not seem necessary...SYNC from Android to the PC is almost instantaneous. I made a mis-statement in that last sentance...the SYNC from the PC to the ANDROID is almost instantaneous.'

You seem to be saying that there is nothing wrong with Thunderbird or the Lightning Calendar.
You seem to be saying there is a problem using the s7 phone and getting it to sync with Calendar which of course is nothing to do with Thunderbird in itself.
In order to do that your phone must be using an app like 'BirdieSync'. I suggest you see if there is a forum for the app you are using.
I notice you have 'gContactSync' on toolbar. But you maintain this was not deliberately installed by yourself, which seems odd because it does not come auto downloaded. It is used to synchronise with google calendar. You say you installed Lightning, but Lightning is now auto bundled with Thunderbird. So you must have installed before this occurred.
What version of Thunderbird are you using? What version of Lightning? Maybe an update has occurred recently in Thunderbird and now maybe your phone app is not up to date. See if there is an update for the phone app.
Thank you for your message...not all of which I understand.
I'll start with the last questions first: My Thunderbird version is 52.7.0 (32-bit) - and indicates it is the newest.
I did install Lightning independently when I first got Thunderbird - at a suggestion from Thunderbird, as I recall. I do not know how to check what version Lighting is running.
My S7 is up to date...and I don't have an app called 'BirdieSync'. I installed no app on the S7 in order to sync with Thunderbird. And, until this specific "recurrent event" problem that we're working on, I had no problems with either device syncing in both directions...and I use recurrent events a great deal...and I'm as likely to enter events on the computer as into my S7.
I don't recall how 'gContactSync' got installed. And I don't understand what role it could play in this problem. But I do not, nor have I ever used Google calendar. I avoid Google products as much as I can...with the exception of g-mail. I don't know how the g-mail contacts were/are accessed by Thunderbird or how & what contacts got downloaded into Thunderbird's Address Book. (I never cross-checked g-mail with Thunderbird contacts.)
I really appreciate your efforts. Please clarify or confirm that I need an app on the S7 to sync with Thunderbird, because, as stated, it has worked flawlessly up till recently. Thanks, Gracie350
re : I do not know how to check what version Lighting is running. It may be easier to post the info from Troubleshooting Information then we can see all the addons, their versions etc.
In Thunderbird
- 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
- click on the 'Copy text to clipboard' button
- then in this forum question, right click in a 'Post a reply' text box and select 'Paste'

gContactSync is an add-on that synchronizes contacts between Google (Gmail) and an Address Book in Thunderbird.
This would explain how you have gmail contacts in a Thunderbird Address Book.
Provider for Google Calendar Allows bidirectional access to Google Calendar. This extension allows Lightning to read and write events and tasks to a Google Calendar. This would explain how you can access Lightning via S7 phone. The S7 phone is actually connecting to a Google Calendar.
Open Calendar left pane, below the calendar showing dates, you should see 'Calendar' in bold font. It will have a small outlined arrow on the left. Q: What calendars are listed ? If no calendars listed then click on the small outlined arrow to reveal them. There should be a 'Home' calendar, this is the default Calendar in Lightning. If it's Properties are set as 'Read-only' then there will be a padlock icon next to it. But I believe you have another calendar, what is it called?
You need to check your google account as I believe you have a Google Calendar.
check to see what it contains.
Logon to gmail webmail email account.
Top right you will see an icon with 9 square blocks called 'google apps'
click on that icon and select 'Calendar'
If it opens and you can see a load of things you have in Lightning Calendar then you know Lightning is synchronising with Google calendar.
Test the S7 by editing something and then see if that occurs in Google Calendar. Remember to refresh the page to see any updates. If no then you know the issue is with the phone and not Thunderbird.
sorry for the long delay.
The answer is yes, editing something in the S7 does show up in the Google calendar after refresh. So...I do have a Google calendar. It contains everything that's on the PC in Thunderbird...plus the many years prior when I was using EPIM! Until this moment, THAT was totally unknown to me!
Google Calendar even contains the 'MIA' recurring events – the original subject of this Support form. The reoccurring events are in Thunderbird and Google Calendar, but not on the S7. I'd still like to resolve that issue if possible.
More answers: The CALENDAR checked off on my Thunderbird list is not the HOME calendar. When I set up Thunderbird, I created "Gaye's Calendar" and did not use HOME, thinking it would avoid any possibility of "populating" a Google calendar. Don't remember why I thought that would work.
So now my questions are should I check HOME calendar instead? What will happen? Might it solve my missing recurrent event? More importantly, will it cause me to lose my existing calendar EVENTS & TASKS?? That would be a disaster!
I must thank you, again, for sticking with me through this labyrinth. I apologize for being so "uniformed."
This is not a Thunderbird issue, so is best approached by using the google help forum. https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/calendar
But....
I've found several reports of people with phones having the issue with reoccurring events.
Try this: Logon to google via a browser to see calendar. Add a bogus recurring event via webbrowser and delete it after a while https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/calendar/_V-iSzLXWQM
