Error message during automatic Windows 10 security upgarde
I have been using Windows 10 almost since it was released to the public (after the beta testing was completed), with Mozilla Firefox as my default browser. Compatibility was never an issue until now. Microsoft has started automatically trying to upgrade its Windows 10 security software. After the computer s-l-o-w-l-y prepared itself for the upgrade, I got this error message: "Something went wrong." My instructions were to contact Mozilla Support, so here I am, wondering ifv the two programs are incompatible. Can I still use Firefox?

Was FireFox running when it was doing the upgrade and what kinda security upgrade version is this? Usually when you update Windows nothing else other then running taskbar needed options should be running to avoid problems. If one can't let the computer do the update before using expect to have problems.
Usually I am online. It happens randomly and without warning.
While downloading an update, there should be no problem. But while the update is running, you should close anything that can be an issue.
Let’s do a full clean re-install;
Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}
Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)
Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux
If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
Do Not remove the profiles folder.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Good news! The Windows 10 security upgrade finally started when I was offline so I don't need to do anything.
