How do I make draggable tabs that are only tabs

Is there a way to retain the ability to drag Firefox Tabs [1] but NOT be interactive with anything except Firefox tabs and Firefox windows?

The ONLY thing I want to happen when I drag a tab is to have tab functionality. I want to be able to reorder tabs OR move a tab between Firefox windows OR move a tab into a new Firefox window.

I do NOT want to be able to drag a tab onto my bookmarks folder toolbar. I have accidentally created way to many bookmarks because I waited a split second too long over the bookmarks toolbar and a folder opened up. I don't want to have to worry about what other program I've dragged the tab over (VLC for example blocks tabs dragged out of a window from creating a new window). And so on, all that other "magic" just gets in the way.

Thanks!

[1] I have seen some outdated advice on how to disable Firefox tabs but I don't want to do that. I like draggable tabs I just want them to ONLY be tabs and NOT some magic something else.

Hi

I'm not aware of a way to prevent opening a bookmarks folder in case you accidentally hover the Bookmarks Toolbar, but you should be able to cancel the drag by pressing the ESC key with the mouse button still pressed if Firefox doesn't close the folder by itself if you move out the drop down area.

Note that there is a keyboard shortcut to move the current tab left/right or start/end. The latter only works when the Tab bar has focus (shows a focus ring).
