firefox keeps crashing

So the past 2 months now I've been experiencing firefox crashing.

The main reasons I can parse out. Looking at stores on clips4sale or facebook news feed or deviantart now tonight which is very much like looking at images on pinterest or google, something I haven't done for a while.

It also seems to me that it doesn't just happen right away, but after a certain amount of time perhaps?

Anyway, the last 2 times now it's been so bad so that my computer literally has locked up. I can't even use control+alt+delete.

I ran my crash report and there was nothing.

Not an IT person at all so I have no clue how to fix this. When it froze up my machine the first time I ran update on Norton and then ran a system wide scan, but found nothing. Having been a computer user for over 10 years and having had really nasty viruses years ago when I was more unaware of some of the dangers on the web I doubt it is a virus.

Nothing else, but firefox has been affected and only firefox seems to be crashing my machine.

I ran my crash report and there was nothing.

Did you mean that the about:crashes page had no information?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I was able to update my video driver.

Computer specs:

HP Windows 7 Prof service pack 1 Intel Core i7-5820k CPU @ 3.30 GHz 3.30 GHz 16 GB RAM 64 bit OS

225 GB C drive which is what the OS runs on I remember the HP sales rep telling me that. 1.8 TB regular hard drive

NVidia GeForce GTX 970

I've been loving to watch youtube videos on one monitor in one Firefox tab while browsing on the other monitor.

monitors are HP27vx LED backlit HP S2031 series wide LCD

I have refreshed firefox. The crash report had items in it, but being this has happened tonight, and sometime during the past week where my machine literally locked up as a result, and then I'd say maybe 1-2 times per week before that for the past 2 months you'd expect to find a lot of crash data. The most recent item was 5/2 and then March sometime before that.

Are you thing that the clips you are watching have something to do with the problem? Do some surfing but use no players.

Here's the crash report because it just happened again while scrolling down through my Facebook news feed. I had 2 other tabs open, one was playing youtube but I paused the video and the other was just a website that had loaded, but wasn't doing anything.

no idea what is meant by this. I can see that I reported the incident from tonight, but there is no reply button anywhere.

What is meant that you copy some recent crash report ID and post them in a reply in this forum thread.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that start with "bp-".

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the report ID of recent crash reports "on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page".

Now Firefox froze up when I was in outlook. I downloaded an attachment (word doc) and when I clicked on the downloads button to access the file, the whole browser just froze and stayed frozen and in fact I believe it's why my machine was taking forever to log off when I hit restart.

Starting to think Firefox is a worthless browser.

Is there a reason for using an older version of Firefox?
