T'bird 38.6.0 & earlier worked perfectly. Why doesn't T'bird 45.1.1?

As of about May 7th, I've had no trouble getting gmail, but have inconsistent connection problems with mail.wbcable.net. I've verified all connection settings w/ wbcable techs, verified Kaspersky is not at fault, & so it all eliminates them & leaves T'bird to be the fault.

Sometimes, I fire-up T'bird, & immediately get all my email access, but at least 60 - 80% of the time I have to leave T'bird idling in the background until it finally gets my email... up to 1 hr. or more delay. I also have inconsistent email sending ability.

My web speed was 55, then I dropped it to 35, & now put it back to 55 & that hasn't been the cause of my problem. Please... help me! My OS = Win 7. Also, my wife can't get her email from mail.wbcable.net .

If I need to retreat to an earlier version, how do I do that & to which version? I've always been on the "Release Channel", so does that need to change?

Please respond quickly, thank you, Dave

Try to start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled.

- Win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode. - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

Does the problem go away?
