Are you usually creating events just before 5PM? What I have observed is the 'default' start time is the next hour after the current time. E.g. I just tried one at 8:43AM and the 'default' start time was 9:00AM. Does yours work that way? If not, what version of TB and what version of Lightning do you have?

Thanks for replying. Yes my event time is responding as you pointed out, however I' putting on a number of events at about 4:00 pm that all start about 8:30 am so it would be very useful if the default time could be set for a specific time. Thunderbird is version 31.5.0, I only started using this programme a few days ago and downloaded the Lightening Calendar at that time. Could not find how to find the version of Lightening perhaps you could help there as well. Regards

If you look at Add-ons -> Extensions you will see the version number for each add-on. My Lightning is 3.3.3 and yours probably is also.

I don't know of any way to set the default time; only the duration.
