Hello,

First see:

Make sure you remove all suspicious applications from the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features, and from your extensions:

  • Tools (or New Fx Menu) > Add-ons > Extensions

You can install the Search Reset Tool which will reset your home page, new tab page, and search bar preferences back to default. Alternatively, to just change your new tab settings:

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. Search for and modify browser.newtab.url - right click the row and select "Reset" or "Modify" - the default is about:newtab

Note that if you are still noticing some issues, resetting Firefox is the best way of removing the changes, but you will lose all of your extensions.
