I use Windows 7 64bit on both my laptop and my desktop. After 3 or 4 tries, my window disappears when I try to access earthlink webmail. I have never had this problem before on this machine and don't have this problem on my laptop using the same system. In addition, my search page goes blank after I get the suggestions up. Again this never happened in the past and doesn't happen on my laptop. I have recently upgraded my desktop to Windows 7 to match my laptop and the problem just manifested itself.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

That didn't work. I can go to troubleshooting and reset FireFox and get a temporary fix but the problem keeps recurring. I never had this problem before and still don't have it on my laptop using the same operating system and FireFox. In addition, I even totally re installed FireFox and the problem still occurs.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Make sure that your security software isn't causing problems.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Still occurring. The only that gives me temporary relief is going to troubleshooting and clicking the reset FireFox button.

create a new profile and see if it works.

and boot into safe mode as cor-el said above

Where is the profile manager in FireFox? SO far the only thing that gives me temporary relief is the reset firefox button and then only for two or three logins to webmail.Again, this is not happening on my laptop with essentially the same setup.

See:

You can only open the Profile Manager if Firefox is completely closed, otherwise a new tab or window is opened.
