switch to silence when emails arrive in mail box

Everytime an email arrives in my inbox there is a ping to alert me. However it is enoying while watching a news item or a film etc. How can I switch it off.

Assuming you're using Thunderbird, make sure 'play a sound' is unchecked.

Assuming you're using Thunderbird, make sure 'play a sound' is unchecked.
