What prevents you (Firefox developers) from making Firefox use codecs already installed on the system without solely relying on Media Feature Pack?

Why is Firefox not capable of using codecs installed on the system directly without asking for Windows Media Feature Pack?

My request is that you make Firefox compatible with existing codecs without it asking specifically for Windows Media Feature Pack (because I don't need it; Firefox does).

Depends on what codecs are being called for from a website as some codecs are copyrighted and are not available for use. You may get some info from doing a google search using "What codecs does firefox use" or "What codecs does firefox support" (between quotation marks). This may give you more information to go on. If this solves your issue please com back and mark as solved.

Also please go to Help Menu then About and upgrade FF to version 54 Or which ever way you get to the same thing.

Twitter videos are made to play in everyone's browser. I bet you watch them in your Firefox no problem.

The thing is, my Windows edition didn't come with Microsoft's Media Feature Pack but that would not have been an issue if Firefox were more flexible by not entirely relying on Microsoft's Media Feature Pack because I have K-Lite Codec Pack installed and all media I've ran across so far is playing back just fine (aside from Firefox).

That's what I think may be of use for the developers to know.

Hi, did you update to ver 54 ? Yup no problem playing stuff. I do not have Microsoft's Media Feature Pack installed on my Win10 Pro 1703 I suggest then hold tight till someone can figure your issue out. Though I have seen a post telling the person the solution is to install Microsoft's Media Feature Pack https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windows
