There are literally no logins or passwords saved any more. They are just gone. It still has "Remember logins and passwords for websites" clicked, but there are not any when I click "Stored Logins...".

Hi, please check your Desktop for a Folder called OldFirefoxProfile if it is there it maybe recoverable as Firefox found some corruption I would think as to why this happened. Please also check here for a 2nd Profile :

You are looking for the below file in the 2nd folder and it would have the oldest date. Same goes for current Profile.

  • logins.json (passwords) and key4.db (58+) or key3.db (57 and older) (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
  • if you only have key3.db then make sure to remove an existing key4.db

fyi for the future :

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Are you using any password add-ons/programs?

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Look for these files: key3.db [v58+] key4.db and logins.json

Are those files there?

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Thank you so much!!! Y'all are amazing, helpful, and super fast. I really appreciate both of you. You will be happy to know I have also backed up my passwords and will continue to back them up often.

Thank you!
