Last week, our platform got a new release with the following highlight that might be relevant to you:
Questions that were marked as spam more than 3 months ago are now automatically deleted. - GH issue
With this change, it's important to note that if you have replied to threads that were later marked as spam and deleted, your responses will also be removed. However, we expect the impact to be minimal as we noted in this H1 summary blog post that spam was historically under-reported before the introduction of the auto-classification system.
It's also worth keeping in mind if you come across other threads that appear to be spam but haven't been flagged by the auto-classification system, we recommend refraining from replying and instead flagging them for moderator review, so we can take appropriate action.
Additionally, I'd also like to use this opportunity to highlight Denyshon's first contributribution to Kitsune to exclude spam questions from the numeric indicator in the Community Forum homepage (GH issue). Thanks a lot for your contribution, Denys!
If you have any feedback about these changes, please share in this thread. And as usual, you can always check out the full changelog in the Kitsune 1.3.9 release notes.
Hi folks,

Thanks a lot for your contribution, Denys!

Thanks Kiki. That is an awesome improvement to our forums! I imagine thousands of spam threads were deleted thanks to that new code. I wonder if there's a counter or log that measures how many spam threads were deleted for us to see how much of a cleaning was done on the site. I really do believe that also reduced the size of the forum database by a lot. Also curious how much data was removed. Maybe half a TB or 1 TB? :)
And thanks Denys for fixing that "The number in "{number} questions in the last 24 hours have no reply" includes spam questions" issue! I noticed it as well & was very surprised the spam threads were included as part of the count. I didn't have time to file it but I'm glad it annoyed you enough to file it & fix it. :)

Yeah, I don't think we have to keep them too. Not sure if they keep a log for that, though. That said, the community team is keeping track of our forum performance every month, so at least we have that. Also yeah, it'll be interesting to see how much space we free up from this change alone, though.
