FireFox 5.0 hangs stops responding when replying to gmails with long threads

I use Gmail exclusively. When I try to respond to an email with a long thread Fire Fox 5.0 hangs and stops responding. The only thing I can do is shut down Fire Fox completely and reopen.

I've had to create new emails to respond to those received and not reply to the thread sent to me in order to reply to my emails. As I said this only is happening with long threads.
