I can't remove google translate. I have not downloaded google toolbar.
Google translate appears as a dropdown and offers to translate pages already in English into English. I want it gone. Each time I see it I click disable, yet it won't go away. I have not installed the google toolbar and I have removed all google software I can find from my PC and reinstalled FF several times to no avail.
This happened
A few times a week

Having same problem here, on all computers I have Google Toolbar installed - PLEASE HELP!!!
HELP!!!! I cannot get Google Translate to stay disabled. Everytime i restart Firefox 3.6.8 and open a web page, the Google translate bar appears at the top of the open page.
WTF Google... this is annoying as he11. I disable Translate, close and reopen Firefox and it is enabled again.
I want it gone and removed entirely but maintain the google tool bar. I am open to suggestions. I can't find it in addons, extensions, or tools. So I am at a loss to say where it is coming from. I am using XP home edition, 2TB harddrive , 16 gbytes ram, RAID 3 and 4. Running 256 bit encryption. Search engines include, IE, Firefox, Opera 75, Myway, Charter, AOL, Bing, Yahoo, Igoogle, PNP Fusion, and Webshots toolbar. I am using the Xenon 4-layer AMD processor and have 320 Main programs and 45 peripheral programs. Video cam (3) with microphones, Bose Accoustic Speaker, N-vidia P9500 Video Card, and 1000Watt Power Pack.
Disable translating in the bar. Then save. Follow the instructions like "cor-el" says, but once in safe mode, remove the Google toolbar. Restart Firefox. Go back to Tools/add-ins. Search for Google Toolbar there. Install from Mozilla web site. Restart as indicated. It worked for me.
In my case I found Foxlingo to be responsible and cured the problem by disabling. By enabling Foxlingo the problem returned.
I did all these things, and somehow Google still translates without permission. I can't turn it off!!!
Hi all!
I had the same problem with google translate and I found that firefox had nothing to do with that. The problem was on a webpage that I was visiting. This is what I found on that webpage:
<script> function googleTranslateElementInit() {
new google.translate.TranslateElement({ pageLanguage: "ro" }, "google_translate_element");
} </script> <script src="//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementInit"> </script> ---
