How can i view all cookies or site data of all sites conveniently?

p+firefox

Is there a way to view all cookies or all site data for _all_ sites in a central location? I have a malware compromised computer that I took off the network and want to check which sites have auth information stored in cookies (or maybe local storage).

I cannot use the developer tools as those require a tab where a page of an origin is already loaded, which is of course not possible since the computer is now offline. Just the cookie count and storage amount is not sufficient because most pages store something, even if there was not login.

To view this information:

  • host name
  • cookie count
  • local storage size

you can go to

Settings > Privacy and security > Browsing data > Clear data for specific sites

However, if you need to see the actual cookies, I'm not aware of any centralized place to view those.

Okay, now that I read more carefully.

Maybe there is an add-on that can search cookies for the ones you want to find, although I'm not aware of any convention for cookie names, so you may have to actually look at all of them.

If there's no add-on, it's more challenging:

Cookies

An external utility could read the cookies.sqlite database file.

Local storage

Firefox uses per-site SQLite database files under /Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/profile.folder/storage which probably would not be very efficient to search. Conversely, these might not be a high value target for exfiltration.

Hm, I feared as much. Your hint about cookie.sqlite is helpful though. I'll see if I can find my way around that database with the sqlite3 CLI tool. Thank you for the quick response :)

As an addendum for people that want to achieve a similar thing: The sqlite3 CLI has a really nice feature to show data in a spreadsheet. So after locating your cookies.sqlite you can follow the follwing steps to show them in your spreadsheet software (libre office in my case):

  • sqlite3 <path_to_cookies.sqlite>
  • .excel
  • select host, name, value from moz_cookies;
