Where do I find the version of Firefox I am using on an ipad mini?

chrisknappart

i have wasted hours trying to figure this out and to download the newest version IF it is compatible with my older Ipad Mini. All directions are bogus, as i do have any of the options which are mentioned.

Your version is 158.0 — the latest available.

The answer is the same as last time: support.mozilla.org/questions/1399247 — just verified the instructions and it's where the article says, at the bottom of Settings.

If you go to your device App Store, it will also show which version you have, whether an update is available, and what is the latest version in the listing/description.

Firefox UserAgent you used to post this thread appears to be Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 18_7 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) FxiOS/158.0 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1

Judging by the iPadOS 18.7 you have a 5th or 6th gen (though not likely A17 Pro though since you said it was older) generation iPad Mini. The minimum iOS you need for Firefox is 15.0 which means Firefox can be installed on a 4th gen iPad Mini if it has been updated to last update 15.8.8.

Since late 2025 this value is fixed and does not reflect the operating system running the browser. It can be any iOS from the supported range, from 15.x to 27.x all using this same header constant.

There's no iPadOS 19.7

Mistype as I clearly meant the 18.7 that was in UA.

Hmm so different compared to Firefox on macOS UA's. With macOS the UA has it as 10.15 since that is the minimum while with iOS/iPadOS they freeze it at a version above the minimum 15.0 ?

But then again the iOS/iPadOS OS requirements has changed upwards much more often compared to with macOS.

The tokens are hard–coded in github.com/WebKit/WebKit/blob/2831b1985f/Source/WebCore/page/Quirks.cpp#L888-L898 per device idiom. (Others can define their own, but for compatibility they usually match this.)

(IOW the constant is not related to platform support, but stems from observed compatibility issues in version number comparison logic downstream which "does not compute", i.e. 11 != 10.x, or how many versions 18.x is older than 26.x kinda issues in real world browser sniffing; hence why it stopped updating at the particular versions frozen ever since.)
