Hello, I hope somebody can give me some guidance about two issues that are driving me crazy. To provide some context, I use Firefox to work from home and my primary interest is accessing government and bank sites from my country to fill out tax forms and pay said taxes, therefore the browser built in provisions that deal with web page development, shortcuts, Artificial Intelligence, Social Media are utterly useless to me. The issues are as follow: 1. I regularly access the website of the federal tax authority of my country and local state hundreds of times each day. After a while, normally two months, Firefox starts to behave like a drug addict: It develops a resistance to the security cookies from these sites that worsens over time, until eventually the websites plain out kick me as soon as I log in. The only workaround is to use Privacy Mode or another browser until Firefox starts to behave again. In 2026 this started to happen with the bank website too. 2. After a fit of rage after a failed task I was in the process of attemping to destroy the mouse when reason finally prevailed but not before I got another issue with Firefox: The browser now prints (To PDF and paper) every single item from dropdown menues in webpages that cointan these elements. I already tried re-installing the browser, doing a clear install, erasing cache and cookies, deleting profiles. Thank you for any guidance.

To provide some context, I use Firefox to work from home and my primary interest is accessing government and bank sites from my country to fill out tax forms and pay said taxes, therefore the browser built in provisions that deal with web page development, shortcuts, Artificial Intelligence, Social Media are '''utterly useless''' to me. The issues are as follow: 1. I regularly access the website of the federal tax authority of my country and local state hundreds of times each day. "web page development, shortcuts, Artificial Intelligence, Social Media are utterly useless to me. " Yes same here :)

"After a while, normally two months, Firefox starts to behave like a drug addict: It develops a resistance to the security cookies from these sites that worsens over time, until eventually the websites plain out kick me as soon as I log in." Have you tried deleting the cookies every week or so etc. "The browser now prints (To PDF and paper) "

You mean a) it tries to print to paper even though you have it set to [pdf] and to [pdf] if you have it set to your named printer ???

I would prefer not to clear the cookies every month or more often because there are other sites I'm logged in that force me to do biometric checks everytime I delete cookies.

And about printing, Firefox now prints to paper or pdf webpages that have dropdown lists showing every item in said lists, that means a page that should have appeared in a single sheet of paper now occupy three.

The issue with printing is a bug and will be fixed in an upcoming 149.0.1 release.

  • /questions/1572581 Print preview in Firefox 149 renders all <option> elements inside <select> instead of only the selected value.

Hi,

First, the printing issue has been resolved in v149.0.2. Please update your Firefox to get the fix.

Second, clearing cookies is good advice, and the good thing about it is that you can clear them for a single domain only. Just navigate to the website you want to clear cookies for, click the shield Fx149UnifiedTrustIcon-Secure icon to the left of the address bar and then click Clear cookies and site data.

Also, here are some standard troubleshooting steps that are useful for such kinds of site issues:

  1. Please check if you have Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) enabled. You can do that by clicking the shield Fx89ShieldIcon icon in the left part of the address bar.
    • If ETP is enabled, try disabling it.
  2. If the problem is not fixed, try clearing Firefox cache.
  3. If it does not help, try clearing cookies and data for the website you experience troubles with (warning: you will be logged out on this website).
  4. If it also does not help, try running Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode. If the problem doesn't persist, please follow the steps from this article to troubleshoot further.
  5. If nothing from the above helps, try creating a new Firefox profile and check if the issue persists there. If it doesn't, you can start copying files from your old profile to the new one to identify which one causes the issue. See this article on what files to copy.
