I have an Amazon Fire HD (12th gen) and want to use Global Privacy Control. Firefox appeared to be the best option, and I like using Firefox.

I'm instructed to install using Google Play. Went through various error messages on Google (eg, no linked Google account). But I do have a Google account linked to my Fire, through a gmail account.

Finally, Google informed me I cannot download from Google Play to a Fire Device. (I had already allowed Silk to install unknown apps, in Settings.)

The Amazon app store doesn't have Firefox.

What can I do, ideally to install Firefox, but minimally, to use Global Privacy Control on my Fire?

Many thanks.

Mozilla did have the Android Firefox up on the Amazon app store for a short while a looong time ago (at version 8.0? I forget) . However Amazon was modifying the apk file breaking the Firefox updates and other things so Mozilla had to pull it off the store ever since.

You may be able to side load the apk file It uses a Cortex-A55 type of CPU that is ARMv8.2-A so perhaps try the fenix-149.0-android-arm64-v8a in https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/fenix/releases/149.0/android/

Thanks so much for this information. Unfortunately, I’m pretty unsophisticated about this. Is it possible to explain step by step what I would need to do? I don’t even know what “side load” means, nor what to do with the link you provided.

I would love to give it a try, if you’re able to provide more detailed instructions.

Thanks again.

Thanks so much!! I will try that. 😊🙏😊
