I got an email supposedly from breach-alerts@mozilla.com that claims there are currently 3 data breaches and has this link to resolve: https://blrv1ly5.r.us-west-2.awstrack.me/L0/https:%2F%2Fmonitor.mozilla.org%2Fuser%2Fdashboard%2Faction-needed%3Futm_source=monitor-product%26utm_medium=product-email%26utm_campaign=monthly-report-free-us-scan-no-exp-yes-breach-resolved-no%26utm_content=resolve-exposures-us/1/01010195ceba1024-6e3f74fe-119a-4e2e-9033-398671a830d9-000000/DDeGOTLjROOXCCk2fJvXJbdefc4=419 This seems like a phishing email, is it legit? Should I find another browser?

So it looks like so far this year Firefox has not been so secure. Many more breaches than Adobe.

You misunderstood as these are not breaches with the Firefox web browsers nor with Mozilla.

Mozilla is helping to keep people informed of accounts they have out there with the same email used with Mozilla Accounts has been apart of website breaches.

The first KB link I posted shows what Mozilla Monitor is about.

Mozilla Monitor is legit https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-monitor-faq

There is a list of breaches at https://monitor.mozilla.org/breaches though a few may not get listed there but are listed at say https://haveibeenpwned.com/

So Mozilla Monitor must be similar to what comes with Norton 360 which wants to sell you other features like Lifelock (who's CEO had his SS# on his van and had his identity stolen twice). Mozilla Monitor did have more breaches listed than Norton.

The wording of the monthly ⁨Mozilla Monitor⁩ report could have been worded better to make it clear that Firefox wasn't the source of the breaches and that entering information through Firefox was not snooped by a Firefox breach.

Thanks for clearing this up.

One of the things that the links and lots of other sites suggest is to use a password manager which to me always seemed risky. One password breach gets the keys to all your passwords everywhere.

The basics I guess is to say try and not use the same email/password combo on multiple sites, more so on sites that may have your financial information like credit cards and such. Another problem I see with password managers based on postings here over the years is that if you lose access to the password manager for whatever reason and do not have your information say in a backup in a safe place somewhere to refer to then you may have difficult accessing some accounts if you forget the details.

I am one of the mods that deal with the spam this support forum can get each day and I admit I have on a small number of occasions encountered one or more spam threads and or replies posted by a Mozilla Account used here that was not a spam account originally. I would check and see the account last posted legitimate posts say several or more years earlier and then it was spam. My guess is their information was gathered in one or more earlier site breaches and the same email/password was used for the Mozilla Account which was then taken over and used to spam here.

Is this email I received from "Mozilla Monitor <breach-alerts@mozilla.com>" legit or not? I have never before received a "monthly ⁨Mozilla Monitor⁩ report".
