Firefox request
I can't get to my gmail account if I go to firefox as a search and enter the single word GMAIL. Before anything else is entered, I end up at my wife's account. Why should that be and how to get to any other email account. I have the same problem with CROME except there it appears to be bound to MY account - the word GMAIL must trigger some fixed, prior established, link that was not intended. The fixed link in Firefox predates 115. I rarely use CROME. The Firefox linkage was very strange, but I mostly accessed MY account via Thunderbird until this also looked like a problem. Is there a way to break this fixed linkage? Thank you
Looking at your guesses, it is 115.8.1 according to my inspection, W7 is correct.

Thank you both for your help in this matter. I got lucky and found a simple solution. Firefox is not at fault, although it appears to have aided the problem. When arriving at the 'unwanted site' in the mysterious manner noted in the problem description, the user is IN Gmail. By clicking the initial of the owner of the Gmail site, one arrives at a drop down list. Part of this list is the user name of THE OTHER, DESIRED, SITE. By clicking on that site, one arrives at the intended Gmail account. It is then possible to toggle between the first and second sites. There is no apparent information about this, but it solves my problem as an acceptable work around. Again, thank for putting me on the correct track. And thanks to Mozilla Support for this site. Bye

You may still have a cookie from when your wife logged in to her account when using this device. You can simply log out and login to your account via the account button in the top right corner of a Gmail page. You can also clear the Google (Gmail) cookies to make the website forget this login.
Are you both staying signed in? In the URL, you usually will see a /0 or /1 that is used to distinguish between the accounts, for example,
- https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox
- https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/#inbox
I don't know whether those are stable and you can bookmark them, or whether it's based on sign-in order.
