Had an error that could not DELETE emails--did not move to "Trash". Followed instructions to delete IMET Trash. msf, and Trash.msf files due to probable corrupt .MSF. There were several of these files. Thunderbird was supposed to re-install the files after restart, but then NONE of my T-Bird files would open. I uninstalled T-Bird and Reinstalled it and got the above error. Initially also tried my source files on Comcast.net, and it would also not let me delete files. Had an error msg" The [SERVERBUG} internal error occurred , refer to server log for more info [2019-02-06-03:15:22] 0.194+0.0000+ 0.193 secs) on Thunderbird. A DISASTER!

Profile files are stored separately from the Thunderbird program files. The program files are static and do not change (except when you upgrade the Thunderbird application version). Because we store profile and program files separately, you can uninstall Thunderbird without losing your messages and settings, and if something goes wrong with a Thunderbird update your information will still be available. It also means that you don't have to reinstall Thunderbird in order to delete your information or troubleshoot a problem.

Initially also tried my source files on Comcast.net, and it would also not let me delete files.

I don't understand what that means, what you did, and why.

ERROR: Unable to open summary files for inbox.

Try to rebuild the index file of Inbox. Right-click Inbox - Properties - Repair Folder

That is completely unrelated. The error is from the server. If the error persists contact your email provider.

Thanks for information about TBird profile files. This was NOT caused my Mozella/TBird. The corrupt files were caused by a WIN10 MSoft not optional upgrade. MSoft FINALLY admitted thiss after 1000 complaints and supposedly fixed their uprgrades--vintage MSoft- No Software Quality Contols--just throw junk out to make $$$ and fix bugs later! The issue with Comcast has gone away. Do not get an error message about that.

Bad new is that the "REPAIR FOLDERS" does not work--cannot even opoen TBIRD. One TBIRD posts gave directions to delete corrupt .msg files and restart TBIRD which would add the files back. This did not work, as I probably delted the wrong .msg files but thanks for trying. I have to just delete TBIRD,as its used for business and cannot risk not being able to used application. Also, the LOCAL File Content I set-up and when using TBIRD to create messages, were lost. The were not on the host server, but are somewhere on my hard drive, BUT I cannot READ them, as TBird does not work--a disaster.

Thunderbird does not use .msg files. The suggestion may have been to delete .msf files, which are index files. They get re-created upon Thunderbird restart. This is essentially the same as suggested above, to rebuild the index file of Inbox, but less elegant.

If this is for business then you should have created a backup of your Thunderbird profile you can restore.

'does not work' is not a helpful problem description, so I won't start guessing.
