In Options/Privacy and Security/Clear history when Firefox closes the box is selected but both the box and the accompanying settings are greyed out - I need to change these settings for a particular program to run corrctly.

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
