After Refreshing my Firefox, all of my trusted sites are now a security risk and are not rendered with html. just ugly un-styled text What happened?
I clicked Refresh Firefox, maybe it is a scam but now everthing is a problem. Sites look awful as none of the styling comes in,many sites that I use regulary like Facebook, Google, Bluehost are security risks. In some cases I can add the exception, but after doing so, the site contains no styling. For others like Facebook I cannot even add the exception to get them to load if the site begins with https:// then forget it. . . no exception option is granted. Something is wrong obviously.
I am on a Mac OS10.9.5 Macbook Pro

All customizations are removed in a Firefox Refresh. Refreshing the page should request a new page, however it looks like you are running into certificate issues as well.
I would first recommend these troubleshooting steps:
- Secure connection and security warning error pages in Firefox
- "This Connection is Untrusted" error message appears - What to do
Second see: Restore bookmarks, passwords, and data from an old Firefox profile
Try to copy the cert8.db file and possibly the cert_override.txt file from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop to the current Firefox profile folder to recover certificates and exceptions that Firefox has stored.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
When you refresh/reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported. The current profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover data from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
A common reason for this is that Firefox is no longer set up to work with your security software after a Refresh, and you use a program that intercepts and filters secure connections such as Avast, BitDefender, ESET, or Kaspersky (or for search engine sites, AVG). cor-el's suggestion should work around that problem if that's the explanation. If not, and you use one of those products, do you want to mention which one?
