My sent box shows full despite purging most messages.

I receive the following error message when I select reply to messages, (that should be filed in my "sent" folder): The folder Sent is full, and can't hold any more messages. To make room for more messages, delete any old or unwanted mail and compact the folder.

have you compacted from the file menu? Also the message is about your sent folder. Have you purged anything from there?
