Firefox: 101.0.1 (64-bit) MacOS Monterey M1Pro MacBook Pro 14"

When I am watching a video from inside firefox, I am unable to exit full screen mode by using the esc key. It was working before and after updating firefox it suddenly stopped.

Please assist

ESC only works when you entered Full Screen Mode via the full screen API by clicking a button on the media player. If ESC isn't working then you may have entered full screen mode via other ways.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
