How do I give Thunderbird my new Google password?

After changing my Google/Gmail password I have attempted, many numerous times, to input the new password into Thunderbird. These attempts have all failed. When I open password manager there are no old password s listed nor is it possible to inscribe new ones. Nothing happens while the words are being typed. Nothing appears. Now I can no longer receive or send email via Thunderbird. A window appears that prompts me to type a password and then rejects it after I have done so, repeating its banal command. Please help. I need my Thunderbird back!

did you disable "less secure apps" while on gmail. That will stop things working fairly quickly.

Do you have an anti virus/ security suite / software package that purports to act as a password "vault"

Hi Matt. Thanks for the reply. Yes, this all started out by disabling access to less secure apps. I've since allowed access again but it's still not possible to log in. Still stuck with the same prompt window asking for a password, then rejects it after it is keyed in.

No, not running any AV software that matches what you describe.
