The new update 11/17/2017 is horrible. It is like a clone of MS EDGE. Also like MSN.com. Is there anywhere we can go without ads, bells, whistles. I loved the previous version in use and look. This has neither. Yuck!!!

Chosen solution

Specifically, what parts of Firefox 57 do you think are too commercial?

Which ads, bells, & whistles are you referring to?

A good ad blocker like uBlock Origim is very effective at blocking advertisements on web pages. Try it, you'll like it. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

Don't like info on extra tab page. I know I can adjust settings, but can't believe America wants all that crap shown. Don't like look of all of Firefox.

After my post, I continued using this Browser to and am having tabs load slowly and/or freezing on pages. Can't believe that this is the best since EDGE is totally unacceptable and Explorer are almost as bad. This time Firefox has tried to copy cat these browsers instead of setting yourself apart from the dregs. You have succeeded in coming close to the user unfriendly EDGE.

Yuck! I feel taken advantage of.

Loads extremely slow. My computer is customized SurfacePro and is very fast. Never had this problem before. I pay extra for faster internet also.

I also hate the new look. For one thing, white letters on black background is very hard to read. Basic graphic design rule. Please make the new version look like the old one.

I hate this version because I can no longer use FireFTP, which was VERY IMPORTANT for some work I did EVERY DAY. Now wtf and I supposed to do?

I'm going to agree this new version completely sucks! I sit and watch web pages load and load and load for 2-3 minutes, on almost any web page I open with a 100mb speed cable internet. I've tried turning things off, on and nothing fixes it. This multi process garbage is a complete memory hog. I have it set to 1 (default) and there are 4 instances of firefox running and all but one of them are using up and beyond 500k + each on many pages

Matter of fact, this page is only thing open, and here is what FF does. 1. firefox.exe = 102,676k 2. firefox.exe = 37,252k 3. firefox.exe = 21,880k 4. firefox.exe = 120,608k

And if I open a page with a lot of advertising, which seems there are NO web pages anymore that aren't full of crap advertising, those 4 instances of firefox.exe start using 500-700k+ each

Complete garbage. The old version used maybe 400k on any website and loads 20 times faster than this junk!

And don't try and tell me to do this and that cos I've already done it! NOTHING fixes this nightmare.

I completely agree with the negative view and so does my wife. She had the update before I did and was constantly complaining about how SLOW and cluttered it was. At first I thought it might be our internet, but after installing on my computer and doing some testing, I knew it was Firefox 57.

I deleted it from both computers and installed Firefox 56 and checked the box to ask before installing updates. To my disgust, Firefox proceeded to reinstall Firefox 57 WITHOUT asking!
When you delete Firefox 57 and install an older version, make sure to check the box to never update Firefox. Then you will be annoyed over and over again with a pop-up asking you to update, but at least you can click "not now" and keep your good version of Firefox.
I hope this is not the future of Firefox. If it is, I see no reason not to look around for a new browser.
