I have just installed Firefox in a new DELL XPS8900-2 with Win7Pro. When I bookmark a web page and try to put it into a new folder the new folder dialogue box will not accept any letters but gives the folder the name "NEW FOLDER"

Are you using Sync to sync the bookmarks?

Does this still happen if you disconnect Sync?

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync while performing maintenance/repair efforts to files in the Firefox profile folder.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.
