I cannot access my email server with TB
1. Downloaded and Installed TB.
2. TB automatically acquired the mail server settings, all looks O.K.
3. When trying 'Get Messages', I am prompted for my password, which I enter, and then nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Can you post your Troubleshooting Information? At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help, and then Troubleshooting Information.
I can't get to the TB window to use email. When I double click the TB icon n the desktop I see the hour glass symbol flash for a second and then nothing happens. I checked with my email sever, Time Warner Cable Road Runner, and could connect to my email by using going directly through their web page. Yet not through TB. Have had this problem for about a day and a half. Tried a cold start of computer with same results. Can get through to other email ISPs such as Yahoo OK. Thanks for any assistance. My email is ikern@hvc.rr.com.
SudsMan,
please start a new thread for your problem. Provide as much information as possible.
Not sure what you mean by starting a new thread. I thought I did that by posting my original question. Oh well... I use XP with SP3 on a Dell 1501 laptop. Time Warner Cable is my ISP. I'm using their email server directly to write this response. Have Norton Internet Security as AV. Problem started a few days ago. When I double click on the TB icon on the desktop I see the hourglass timer for a second before it disappears and nothing else happens. The desktop continues to be displayed on the monitor. I never get to the TB login dialogue page. What other information can I supply? Thanks for your time and help. And... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

No, you replied to an existing thread. You should start a new one for your problem.
OOOOPs..... I guess you can tell you're dealing with someone who is computer "challenged." Is there some sort of "start a new thread" button someplace? Thanks. Bill

You managed to create an account, so it can't be that bad.
