Sorry to hear about the crashes, and thank you for the crash reports. All three seem to involve the same activity, which is accessing one of the settings databases Firefox uses. There are many databases, but based on what you're doing at the moment, I suspect a problem in the history/bookmarks database.

As a test, you could rename that database. What Firefox will do when it can't find it is start a new one, and restore your last automatic bookmark backup to it. But since there isn't any history backup to restore, it won't have any of your history. I'll give the steps for that in a later post.

You also could try using the "Places Maintenance" extension to fix the database. It's certainly not guaranteed, but may be worth a try.

Places Maintenance

(1) Install the extension from: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/

(2) Open the Add-ons page to the Extensions section. Either:

• Ctrl+Shift+a
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click "Extensions"

(3) Click the "Options" button for Places Maintenance. This should launch a dialog with several checkboxes.

(4) Try one at a time, e.g., check the box for Check Integrity and then click Execute. After that completes, uncheck that box and try the next one. Each task takes 5-15 seconds in my experience.

Any improvement?

As promised before, you can force Firefox to generate a new history/bookmarks database as follows:

First, make fresh bookmark backups. I suggest generating files in both available formats. You can call up the Library dialog using Ctrl+Shift+b. Then you will find both Backup... and Export Bookmarks to HTML on the menu. These articles describe how those functions work:

• Back up to the JSON format: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
• Export to the HTML format: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks

Next, rename the database file. Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
• (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information

In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
• (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename places.sqlite to something like oldplaces.sqlite.

Firefox creates temporary files related to places.sqlite and those may need to be renamed/removed as well. Check for places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal and either rename or remove them as well.

When you start Firefox back up again, it should start a new places.sqlite database and import your last automatic bookmark backup. Can you confirm that all your bookmarks are present? Does the address bar work normally again?
