Is it possible to use Thunderbird's export function to export emails sent/received between two dates on my desktop and then import that onto the work laptop? I need to update work's new laptop and only need to do it between two dates.

I have searched for this issue, but all the posts and replies I've found are very old and not very helpful.

I have the Thunderbird folder from the Macbook which contains install and profiles ini files and Crash Reports, Profiles and Pending Pings.

I have made several attempts to move all the files and folders over but it doesn't matter whether I move them before I install Thunderbird or after I've installed Thunderbird and before I launch the program but every time I get invited to open a new account; I've even tried opening a new account and then moving the files.

I've searched the Forum and other websites but cannot find anyone reporting or rectifying such a problem.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi - on my Thunderbird I can see what seem to be duplicates of my mail accounts. Please see pic. These are IMAP accounts. At the top where is says INBOX - I can open that up and reveal all my email accounts - and any subfolders I have in them. Then at the bottom I now seem to have duplicates of these mail accounts although the icon is slightly different.

Subfolders in the top email accounts within the INBOX - seem to periodically move down to the accounts at the bottom which is really confusing.

How can I tidy this up please? Thanks for any help. Jonathan

For a long time I'm having issues with messages in Inbox (and Junk Mail) are automatically moved to Deleted Items. It does not seem to be a fixed period of time. Sometimes it is 1 day sometimes more. The mail account is on an IMAP mail server (imap.pangia.biz). I have both Thunderbird on desktop and Thunderbird on mobile (previously K9) and that might even increase the issue frequency. Currently I started to loose some mails in Deleted Items as if they have been permanently deleted. However if I login to the web based online account I still can find the mails in trash folder.

Is this a known issue? How can I troubleshoot further? A sync. mismatch problem? Is the issue with my mail account provider how can I pinpoint the problem?

I'm running Thunderbird 128.5.1esr (64-bit) on Windows 10.

After it has been running for some time (usually half an hour), Thunderbird starts freezing up. It seems to be stuck at getting new messages from the server.

I can't close the window when writing a new message, I can't read e-mails and even closing Thunderbird doesn't work. I have to maually end the process in the task manager. CPU load and RAM are not affecter and all other programs on the computer work fine.

If I run Thunderbird in troubleshoot mode, these issues are not present. I have no active extensions (just one disabled), I'm using the default theme.

Any ideas what could be causing these issues or how to troubleshoot this?

All the emails in one of my Thunderbird (TB)accounts deleted a total of over a hundred emails over time when Thunderbird (TB) closed. I still have 5 other TB accounts that are open. The other accounts do not delete the emails as my main account (MMA) does. The deleted emails did not go into another folder such as Deleted or Junk. The top of the MMA display states 100 plus emails are in MMA, but I cannot find or answer them. Question 1: Where are the emails and how can I recover them?

Secondly, now a new problem. A tech deleted MMA and tried to reinstall the MMA to recover the 100+ emails. He could not reinstate the MMA, nor can I. When we tried to reinstate MMA, it states “Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.” It will not accept the only 2 passwords I have used. How can I change the password and reinstate MMA?

I have a large amount of emails stored in a mail server (almost 22G), and the service will expire next month. So I want to use Thunder Bird to keep these emails in my local drive for later access. I am new to this software, and have a few questions. 1. Should I use IMAP or POP3 for my purpose? 2. Because it is a huge volume, I guess it may take several days to download all emails. Then, can I turn off Thunder Bird while it is downloading or pause the download process and resume later? What if the downloading process be interrupted due to internet disconnection, power failure or other reasons? Can the software resume where it leaves and ensure the integrity of all emails? Thank you for any help!

Hello,

I have the latest thunderbird (128.5.1esr (64-bit)), running on Windows 11 and connected to a mailcow server.

I am having problems with creating calendar events - they are created 1 hour in the future. They show up fine in thunderbird, but Mailcow/SOGo and mobile phones, etc all show the incorrect time.

If I create an event outside thunderbird, or edit it outside thunderbird, all is ok.

I have opened the error console, and it gives me a number of warnings "Calendar: Could not find definition for W. Australia Standard Time"

I am not sure where it is looking for this - but that is the timezone my computer is set to, it exists in the registry, etc.

There is an attached screenshot with more details of the error - maybe its java library issue or something?

When I created the 25 message filters and run from inbox it's Work.

Example : Filters 1 Marketing Managers From contains : managers@xxx.xxx To contains : managers@xxx.xxx Move message to folder Marketing Managers under My Company and Marketing and sub-folder Marketing Managers

Filters 2 Marketing Customer Company A From contains : marketing@abc.xxx To contains : marketing@abc.xxx Move message to folder Marketing under My Customer and Company C and sub-folder Marketing But when I closed thunderbird and open again.

The alert pop-up will show about the filters can't move to destination folder. Then I'll check the filters again and found the problem with Perform these actions could not find the destination folder, I selected again and try to run It's work. After then I try again on next days. The alert pop-up display again.

Thunderbird 112, no message filters problem, but install new version (128.5.1 esr) found problem.

Anyone advice for solve or correct this problem.

Update: Issue below solved. I have no idea how. Suddenly started working a couple of hours after first reporting though I did nothing after posting the original issue. All is good but I don't know why, how, what, or where!


I just did a routine windows 11 software update after which my emails on my Comcast account are suddenly not accessible by Thunderbird. Thunderbird loads fine but when I try to sync (or when Tbird automatically tries to sync) with Comcast, I get an error message box:

Login to server imap.comcast.net with username xxxxxxxxxxx@comcast.net failed

I don't know what to do to try to get Comcast to recognize and permit Thunderbird to resume normal operation.

I closed then re-opened my Tbird app and I got a popup to put in the comcast password which i did, however after doing so, I got another popup box with the following:

Mozilla Thunderbird ESR Thunderbird Alert from acccount xxxxxxxxxxxx@comcast.net: Temporarily blacklisted IP address -- try again later.

Any help greatly appreciated! Currently, my Tbird is nonfunctional.

I unexpectedly got a message "Login to server imap.comcast.net with username johnmckiernan@comcast.net failed."

Thinking it was odd, I followed through setting a new password. The password works for Firefox logging into the comcast/Xfinity site. I can also have it work on my iPhone/Apple Mail.

But it doesn't seem to work through Thunderbird.

Back in September, 2024, Microsoft Outlook no longer accepted my long-used login information via Thunderbird. I could still log in to https://outlook.live.com/owa/?realm=hotmail.com from the Firefox browser. I tried adjusting Account Settings (e.g. Server Name, Server Type [POP], Security/Authentication, etc. to no avail. I downloaded the current version of Thunderbird (128?) and tried installing per directions found here. Tried using the Flatpak path. The direct Command Line path yielded the same result.

dave@Sequimer:~$ sudo flatpak install flathub org.mozilla.Thunderbird [sudo] password for dave: Skipping: org.mozilla.Thunderbird/x86_64/stable is already installed

I've done a backup and moved to lesser machine which works but it is slow and I want to get back to the original configuration. Now I'm accumulating saved emails on this backup machine while prior emails are saved on the original machine. I'll want to merge them when the login problem is resolved.

I installed Thunderbird from the internet and it was pretty seamless, but I don't think I correctly responded about contacts, because everything from my 2012 macbook seemed to transfer but the address book is empty and I have tried many ways of transferring unsuccessfully, and my apple mail won't let me import its addressbook.

If I uninstall the program and reinstall it again, will it work if I answer yes to the contact question?
