When attempting to add my calendars on our Nextcloud server, I can't get further then the second dialog.

Steps to reproduce: 1. New account > Calendar 2. Select "On the network" 3. Enter the correct user name and address (I did try the server address AND both CalDAV addresses presented in the calendar settings on the Nextcloud web app). 4. Press "Search for calendars" 5. After an extended period of time a dialog with a title "Adding a security exception" appears, claiming, that our Nextcloud site does not have a correct certificate (it does).

This is where the journey ends. If you add an exception, the dialog disappears and you are still at number 3. Trying again will produce the same result. Funny thing is, that you can press the button "Load certificate" in the "exception dialog" and then the same dialog will declare that our site does indeed have a correct certificate! But it will only allow you to close the dialog and you are still at number 3 and without any chance to add your calendars.

This is a completely new installation of Thunderbird. There are other folks that are using Thunderbird with their calendars on the same Nextcloud server and everything works happily. I presume this is a bug with the newer version of Thunderbird or something of that sort.

Updating on June 20, the existing Thunderbird version in a flash of a second was replaced by a new blank one. All files and settings were lost. I needed an expert who (at cost of course!) managed to roll back the program with all files and settings as they were. This was a disaster, how can such effect happen? Right now I do not trust the updates anymore and will not implement new updates.

I am trying to add a new identity, I already have 3, so perhaps there is a limit? I have created the identity under manage identities with no problems. However, the new identity does not appear in Thunderbird, where the others are. The address is not recognized, and does not receive emails. I feel like I have missed a fundamental step but have followed the help instructions & cannot see what I am doing wrong. Ive checked and the program is up to date. The system was working fine. The next day, when starting Thunderbird (TB, the status line shows logging in to server but loops; no errors or messages, Thunderbird is 'locked out' spinning. I see the normal INBOX page, but logging in never completes. NO CHANGES were made to TB accounts or settings. I have re-installed TB, re-booted, but no change. I cannot check/change any of the accounts or do any further 'debugging' because TB is spinning. The server login is fine because Webmail can be used. Internet connection is fine, because browser works. 1. How can I stop TB from trying to login at start up? 2. What could/would cause this behaviour?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Having allowed external content for a message, how do I block it again for that same message?

As per the title. I have allowed external content for one message (it is disabled by default). Finding the option to do that was easy, because there is a specific message with a drop-down menu to configure access to external content for that particular message.

However, now that I have allowed external content, I do not wish to keep it allowed (no need for external parties to know when and where I open and re-open and re-re-open this e-mail). The drop-down menu to manage the privacy options for this particular message has disappeared. That is inconvenient, to say the least, because I can't see any other way to get to those options. What am I missing?

I've been trying to find a way of synchronising Thunderbird data, principally addressbooks, messages and calendar data, between several PCs. I've tried to do this with a file synchronisation program called Allway Sync but it's become clear it's not just a case of copying changed data between the profiles of the different systems.

It seems the only way to do it is by exporting the profile data to a zip file then importing it to the other systems. That would be a rather clunky solution but I could live with it. However the size of the profile folder on my main workstation is now around 5GB so that doesn't appear to be possible.

I should be extremely grateful for any suggestions on how to accomplish the synchronisation if it is at all possible.

My main workstation is running Windows 7 Professional SP1. The others are running Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional

I have tried the procedure outlined in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-delete-messages#thunderbird:win11:tb152 several times. The account in question is a POP account. The procedure creates a Trash folder that I can see in File Explorer. However it doesn't show up in Thunderbird and i cannot delete any messages in this account.

Here is how I got to this point: I was deleting a two messages that Bitdefender had found were infected. The messages disappeared but so did the Trash folder. I know the infected messages are there somewhere because Bitdefender keeps reporting them. Now I can neither locate these deleted messages nor delete any other message in this account.

I have 'Allow remote content in messages' turned off.

When viewing a message with remote content, I see the bar "To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message", however the 'Preferences' dropdown described in Remote Content in Messages does not exist...

I want to show remote content for a single message, but this seems impossible!

What am I doing wrong?

Currently, Thunderbird only downloads my emails when it's open. That means that, after a week away from home, it can take 15 minutes or more for all emails to totally download. How can I make it do this in real time, as does my phone or my Cogeco Webmail?
