I have noticed that I can not delete messaages from my all mail folder.They are gone only for few second then are back. The biggest problem is that I am novice person, not so many skills with computer. I need a simple solution if is possible. KIND thank you for understanding and your help !

Running Thunderbird 140.0.1esr (64bit) on Windows 11 Dell desktop.

Have had two active mail profiles running for years, one for each of us in the family. Some weird things are taking place now.

This afternoon when initiating Thunderbird by selecting Thunderbird icon on the task bar as always do, Thunderbird began going directly to my profile, not bringing up the 'Thunderbird - Choose User Profile' window. This has happened previously and I got instruction on the forum how to resolve, so I did that resolution again.

I ran Thunderbird.exe -p in the RUN box .

It bought up the 'choose user profile' window so I UNCHECKED the box 'use the selected profile without asking at startup.' I guess somehow it got inadvertently checked. I expected this to resolve the problem. Note: When the box came up the first time I did NOT notice the names of the profiles offered, ours or the default ones mentioned below.

Now, when I initiate Thunderbird by selecting the icon in the task bar or selecting the icon on the desktop or selecting Thunderbird in the START list of apps -- it still goes directly to my profile not bringing up the 'Choose User Profile' window. HOWEVER, when I enter in the RUN box either thunderbird.exe or thunderbird.exe -p it brings up the 'Choose User Profile' window.

BUT -- the profiles offered are default and default.esr. They are not our two profiles we have been running for years. Our two profiles are still in the Thunderbird Profiles directory as seen with File Explorer. Hovering over default and default.esr shows their respective paths to the Thunderbird Profiles directory. (Cannot edit these paths.) But using File Explorer, these two profiles (default and default.esr) are NOT seen in the Profiles directory at all.

Question: 1. How do I get Thunderbird to function correctly. That is, when selecting the Thunderbird icon it brings up the 'Choose User Profile' showing our two profiles, and when I RUN Thunderbird.exe in the RUN window it ALSO shows our two profiles in the 'Choose User Profile' window, and NOT that default and default.esr profiles which I don't even see in the Profiles directory.

One more thing -- I have been thinking of switching over and installing the Thunderbird Release Channel -- If I installed it, would these problems carryover or would they be resolved? Thank you.

Added this note: In the past when the box 'use the selected profile without asking at startup' got inadvertently check and I resolved the problem by running thunderbird.exe -p, I was not running the Thunderbird version I am running now. It was back on 9/22/24 and I forgot what version it was but I don't think it was the ESR version back then. Maybe that is why running this command worked back on 9/22/24, but getting weird results now with the current esr version running. Thank you again.

On my laptop when I try to send an email the spell checker box appears. I have tried turning thunderbird off then on again but with the same result. This first happened after I tried a spell check on an email which did not work (did not check the text) and all the time since every time I try to send an email all I get is the spell checker box. To send an email I have had to come out of Thunderbird and go into Yahoo mail to recover the draft and send it that way. I would apreciate any help you can give me. A second issue is that my phone app does not talk to talk windows 10 laptop. This is probabley a setting problem as I can get Inbox but cannot get Drafts (tried to send email by phone but Drafts was empty). Thanks Peter

reinstalled Thunderbird 140.0.1esr (64-bit). When I attempt to Write a new email: gibberish shows p in the text body. Canot overwrite; have deleted previous version and reinstalled current one; followed trouble shooting steps in Safe mode without change. This doe not ocur in my Android devices. It appears in each of the two email accounts I have running in Thunderbird, 1) gmail, and 2) email account from my business website. I have been a Thunderbird user for 10+ years, and have not encountered this before. any assistance is appreciated! TYIA!

I do not like the latest version. I used to be able to tap on "Get all new messages for all accounts" (or similar) and I would get all messages for my 5 accounts. Now I need to tap on the thunder cloud image and then tap on the Inbox for each of my addresses. So much more work involved. Not happy!

I have followed the Thunderbird video also the instructions given to the reply to the query on 7/20/23, 10:43 PM by "jeff236" but I have been unable to get the data across to my Windows 11 laptop. So have I have spent over 3 hours, on one attempt I copyed only the addresses. I have unistalled Thunderbird and reintalled the programme a number of times on the new PC also used Import option on the new PC but all without success. Please can you help.

I made a mistake. I had 128 and went up to 140. It pretty much looks the same, but a big difference is an extension I always use says it will not work with 140. I don't care how good 140 might be; if I can't use my app, QUICKTEXT, then I don't need this. How do I go back to 128 or to a version that works with my extension?

I am trying to create a totally new email address in Thunderbird. I am not importing an existing email. I am creating a new email. But the instructions provided by Thunderbird are out of date or inaccurate. When you follow their instructions you will only find the option to use an existing account to add to thunderbird. Can anyone help?

Hi, I have been used to seeing a 'New Message' panel and the list of tasks including 'File' 'View' 'Edit' 'Tools' etc on Thunderbird's opening email screen for many years. I may have mistakenly made the modification which has resulted in them no longer appearing. I am still able to send emails via clicking on the mail symbol next to my email address and then clicking 'Write a new message' but prefer to avoid this step. I usually click on 'File' to empty the Deleted emails but as above, 'File' etc doesn't show. Neither do the number of emails in my Deleted file. The panel below the list of email files now shows 'Welcome to Freedom' which is new. I am an old codger eighty years old and my computer skills are fairly modest. I hope you can provide a simple fix.
