11-14-25 I have a Dell Precision M6700 laptop running Outlook 2007 under Windows 7 64 bit Pro. I have a Dell Precision 7720 laptop running Thunderbird under Windows 11 64 bit Pro. So far I have been unable to export the Outlook.pst file from the M6700 and import it into the 7720. I have tried to find a free version of a pst to eml converter, but the free (or trial) versions only seem to convert a few files in each folder. So assuming pst to eml conversion is the first step, I need recommendations for reliable but reasonably priced conversion utilities so that I can export the files from Outlook 2007.

I have tried to import converted eml files into Thunderbird, but the Thunderbird import software seems to be looking mainly for a profile which I don't know where to find. And besides, it appears that Thunderbird is designed to do the export/import operations on the same computer, not two computers as in my case. Anyway, I get an error no matter what I try. If someone has insight into these various steps, I would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks!

How do I make a backup copy of my Thunderbird email client, saving all the subfolders? I would like to then uninstall Thunderbird and then reinstall it, as a new user, and without losing any of my old user folders. Thanks. After I do this, will I be able to reload all the old subfolders and read those messages?

Some time back I learned that going to config and changing "mail.delete" from FALSE to TRUE would change the way deletion worked so that after deleting a message the cursor would move to the next most recent message instead of the subsequent one. I've now decided that indeed I preferred the default setting of FALSE. I have changed it back on my two PCs, both running Win11 24H2 and TBird 128.14. On one PC the direction was changed back to the default direction, i.e. go to the subsequent message. On the other one it still moves to the prior message. I think I have done exactly the same thing on both PCs. What do you think I might be doing wrong?

Probably my falt, the last version of Thunderbird got instaled on my PC. I do not like it, impossibility to read my message on the side of the screen, impossible to reorganise mails via there date after they reorganised themself throw sender order... So, I would like to go back on my old version, probably 143 or 144 ? Does anybody know how to do it without loosing all my data ? Thanks in advance... Pierre A. Over the past few weeks, emails have suddenly started migrating from my inbox into my trash. I can put them back into my inbox easily enough but it's really annoying.

The interesting thing about these emails is that, when they go into the trash folder, they stay there. I have my Thunderbird settings so that any emails I actually delete don't go into the trash but simply disappear.

Can anybody explain why this is happening and how I can stop it?

I keep getting an alert saying I need to update my email account. How do I do that? (BOTH of my email accounts work fine on my home computer, but neither works on my classroom computer. I'm a teacher).

After many years of using Thunderbird with an AOL account I changed my password in AOL to increase the security. So I had to install the AOL account again in Thunderbird. I created an app password in AOL and put it in Thunderbird. Everythin fine so far. AOL login window opens automatically. But after login to AOL the message "somthing went wrong" and "try on anther device" pops up. I tried it on several PC's - no way. Other mail clients like Mailspring oder Mailbird did work with the AOL account. What is the problem?

On the 20, of October I was forced to re install Windows 10. Kept my data but I had to re install all my apps. With Thunderbird I follow the same procedure I used with Firefox: After installation I copied the profile folder from my backup and replaced the new one. That worked out well. With Thunderbird, I followed the same procedure, all my emails where there but not my local folders. I am attaching several snapshots to illustrate my steps. Image 1 "local folders now" Image 2 "Profile Folder". (why there are 2 sub-folders)? Image 3 "Mail in the profile folder" Image 4 " List of folders in my Local Folders" The are there, how do I get them back on Thunderbird in the correct place "Local Folders"? Does anyone know how to restore a previous profile? I had a situation like this: I had Firefox 140. I decided to upgrade to 147. Then I upgraded to 145 and all my data disappeared. The system is Linux Ubuntu.
