local folders after a certain amount of folders have disappeared. I have made a new folder today, it displayed, closed thunderbird, re-opened thinderbird, and folder disappeared, the .msl file and file are still in the profile/mail/localfolders directory, just not being display under local folders in program, deleted all .msl files, and restarted thunderbird, and it did not recreate the .msl file(s) as well

Hi, I keep getting the following message when I try to excute Thunderbird on my Windows 11 desktop:

"Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window."

I have gone off to Taskbar and looked for Thuderbird in the list of programs. It does not appear!

I have restarted my desk top, executed Thunderbird abd I get teh same message.

I have deleted Thunderbird from the desktop, shut down the PC. Restarted the PC and downloaded Thunderbird. I still get the same message when I execute it.

What else can I do about this?

I thought for sure that Xfinity was moving messages to junk despite everything. It turns out Thunderbird is doing it. I turned off every setting I could find to keep TB from trying to filter junk. I reset training data. Still perfectly normal messages are sent to junk, and *even marking it as NOT junk, and even the address in the address book* TB moves the message to junk.

Hi Folks, Recently I have been having an issue with accessing a particular website which is asus.com and the nature of the issue is as follows. Every time I attempt to login I receive the following error message.

The browser could not find the host server for the provided address.

   "Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com.
   If you are unable to load any pages, check your device’s data or Wi-Fi connection."

It should be noted that this is the only website that I am having this issue any and all assistance in resolving this extremely annoying issue will be greatly appreciated

I've been reading how to move my emails to a new computer. There are two users on the old computer, both with Thunderbird. When moving the email profile to the new computer, does it pick up both users, or does this need to be done separately for each individual Thunderbird email account? If so, I assume I need to set up both users on the new computer before starting the Thunderbird move. Also, how can I be absolutely sure I'm dealing with a recent enough email version on the old computer? My Thunderbird updates frequently but the new one seems to be slightly off.

Hi folks, as title states - If I delete an IMAP defined account, will it's associated local folder also be deleted?

Currently I'm getting mixed answers on this when searching more broadly online.

I seem to recall that in the past I was able to change my "From" email address to another one for a 1-time use. Either I forgot how to do that or that option is no longer available. Can you tell me how to do it? I want to use an address that cannot be tracked for some emails (xx@duck.com). Thanks.

Firefox used to close completely when I close the last tab. The last update broke that behavior. How can I get it back the way it was? This new behavior is sick!!!

I cannot download e-mail from Mozilla Thunderbird. It says "Done" in the lower left corner and will not download when I hit the Get Messages key in the upper right corner. Please help me to be able to download my email.

I used to be able to clear all data with no problem, but now it's holding to Gmail login data (I think that's the problem, anyway). I clear all data after each browsing session and have been doing so for a long time, but it's not working anymore. But it is working on my husband's laptop and we're on the same version of Windows (11) and have the same settings. Can someone please assist in figuring out what's happening behind the scenes? Lightning Strikes again.

As soon as TB upgraded to 143 I had the following problems:

1. Half my folders disappeared. In this day and age, where emails are "official documents" to prove communications.... 2. I could not delete any email, folder. 3. I could not create a folder.

So, I deleted that installation and reinstalled TB.

Same issues. NO CHANGE with a clean install.

I have 2 machines (Win10 and Win11) with FF 140.3.1esr (32-bit) installed which demonstrates the same failure when I enter one site's url:

PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

Chrome at the same machines goes at this url w/o any failures. Any ideas what to change on "about:config" in FF to allow it opening this url w/o such error?

My Spectrum password was changed and now I cannot get direct access to TB. For some reason TB is not linking up with Spectrum password. I get a popup panel saying "Login to server Mail.TWC.Com with username jomar159@hvc.rr.com failed" Retry Enter New password Cancel I have 2 accounts on TB 1 is wmarks1 and the other is jomar159@hvc.rr.com HELP

I have two Gmail email addresses. One is used for important messages. As of last Thursday I am not receiving some emails sent to this account. I asked sender to use secondary email and they come through. I’m very concerned that I’m missing important messages and need to get this corrected quickly. Please help if you can. If I need to delete Thunderbird I will but hope not.

Suddenly I am not receiving emails from my church and financial advisors (especially daily and weekly newsletters). They are NOT going into spam; I'm stumped. Appreciate your help.

In Outlook, it would say that "I replied to this message on xxx" in the header (not sure if that is what it is called, but near the top). I found it helpful to at least see if I have already replied to a message received. Is that feature available in TB?

Hello all!

I use Thunderbird as a local archive for my email. I have two accounts in the application: my home email via my ISP (POP) which I predominately use and my gmail (IMAP) which I don't generally use. There are years of messages in folders and sub-folder under the POP account, but nothing under the IMAP.

I’m up to date with Thunderbird at v140.1.0esr (aarch64) on my iMac with Sequoia 15.8.

On 07/22/2025 I went to download some messages via my ISP POP account and saw that a whole bunch of my email folders no longer had any subfolders and were empty of any messages. Some were also duplicated. Please see the attached image.

I haven’t changed any settings in years, and I do not have any add-ins. One of the nice things about Thunderbird has been its solidity and simplicity.

After every session, I would empty my trash and compact.

Suddenly my email seems to be gone along with sub-folders while top level folders are duplicated.

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Since I don't do anything fancy with the application and with the suddenness of this issue, I can't image I'm the only person having it? I’m quite concerned I may lose many years’ worth of messages.

Hi there,

For some reason, all my text has been showing up as bold on my Firefox web browser. However, the same sites do not appear as bold on the mobile Firefox app or in a private Firefox web browser.

While I thought it applied to many different fonts, it seems to specifically target Roboto. This is especially troublesome because my photography website has all body text as Roboto:

This was not always the case, but one day everything began appearing bold several weeks ago. Text that is italicized seems to stay in italics and not bold.
