Hi,

two days ago, video embeds on Twitter stopped working in Firefox. Please help me troubleshoot the issue, so that I can either fix it myself, or present enough evidence to file a proper bug report.

Affected version: FF 140 ESR. I had some 140.7 installed when the error first happened, but have upgraded to firefox-esr_140.10.1esr-1_amd64 since. Didn't fix the problem. *Not* a snap package, regular .deb!

Affected OS: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, not a fresh install but upgraded from 24.04 instead (which itself was upgraded from 22.04).

Symptoms: Videos on X (and Facebook) no longer play, the preview image is there for a split second, then an error appears. Video on for example Youtube is fine, though. Local players like VLC also do work as expected. Video on X worked under 26.04 before this happened.

The issue likely started when removing surplus packages and metapackages from the upgrade. I of course tried re-installing these, but this also doesn't fix the problem.

On my journey of fixing this myself, I also asked the all-hallucinating knowledge randomizer frontend of OpenAI, which made me check a couple generic spots on my system and in FF itself.

When I try to access my email on Thunderbird, I keep getting the same message: Login to account "jayoung3@icloud.com" failed Login to server imap.mail.me.com with username jayoung3 failed.

I changed my password but I still can't access my email. And I have an account recovery code (which I don't know how to use).

A few months ago, Firefox was handing off 'search' from the Google search bar (in the middle of the page) to the address bar. In March this was fixed with updated version 148.1 (I believe). When I logged in this morning - Firefox said there was some kind of error and made me reinstall it. My search reverted back to handing off to the address bar - AGAIN! In settings I located, under 'Search' the box that allowed this hand-off and I unchecked it and restarted Firefox and STILL my search is being moved from the Google search bar in the middle of the page to the address bar. I mean, WTH?!?!?!? Why is everything always a problem? Why is nothing working correctly? Why does Firefox make these indiscriminate changes? I cannot work like this. Please, please, please, someone help me.

In Thunderbird on my Mac there appears to be no way of restoring alphabetical order to Folders.

All of my folders under A(and there are a lot of them) have dropped down a few alphabetical letters. There is supposed to be a right click on account name and restore this order, however, like many features on Thunderbird it does not exist now.

So a) why has Thunderbird on my Mac done this and how do I sort it out please?

I have seen many topics about creating your own extension and uploading it to Mozilla for approval but not publishing it so that you can use it yourself only, but none of them tell you what to do after your extension has successfully passed review. I would like to install the extension that I created (and can see in the "My Add-ons" area of mozilla.org), but I have no idea how to do that. Do any of you have any experience with this? This extension was previously only for Chrome but I made some changes to make it Firefox compatible, and I don't want to publish it since it's technically someone else's work. Thanks.

Before reinstalling Windows, I made a backup, but since I didn't update the system until a day later due to work, I forgot the backup password. I've tried every password I could think of, and I don't know what to do now.

I keep getting email messages saying that my Firefox account will be terminated on May 26th because I don't use the browser enough. Is this true? I also use a different browser, but do use Firefox occasionally.

Edit address book entry displays only DELETE and CANCEL at the bottom of the edited entry. The rightmost border may be obscured as the display does not allow for scroll.

Hi - I love the themes available in Firefox. However, some themes I use change my Bookmarks section to "dark". I assume that is by design. However, is there any setting in themes that will enable the Bookmarks section to stay on a light setting? If not, may I please submit this as feedback for a future suggestion? Also, the themes affect the look of part of the new sidebar. I would also like to submit as feedback this issue. Thanks in advance for any help!

For few days, it's impossible to connect to FACEBOOK. I have the latest version of FIREFOX, but I have to use another web browser (EDGE) to connect to FACEBOOK. The problem is the same with my two computers with the latest WINDOWS.

Default homepage is yahoo. Since the update to version 149, if I do a search from yahoo, the new tab that opens with the search result is blank most of the time. I have to click reload for the search results to show up.

Is anybody else having that problem? Seems to be yahoo search specific but not 100% sure.

All my Tabs Group have disappeared from the Tab Bar. I can see the Closed Tab Groups in the drop down but i can't find a way to re-open Closed Tab Groups. Any clues welcome. Running 146.0 and on the beta update channel.

Google has added some AI 'ads' to their title page? This just appeared a day or so ago on my system. How did I remove it, block it? Attached is an image of what I am asking about. What is interesting is in Chrome I can explicitly turn this junk off. But when using the Google search title page with Firefox, there appears to absolutely no way to disable it... very nasty way of forcing you to use Chrome?

I am trying to disable the text segmentation behavior in latest Firefox(v151), but I have encountered an issue where changing the preference in [about:config] does not seem to have any effect.

Details:

   Target Preference:  intl.icu4x.segmenter.enabled
   Current Setting:       false

   Problem: 
   Even after setting this to false (and restarting the browser), the text segmentation behavior (such as word selection logic) remains unchanged and appears to still be using the ICU4X engine.

  1.  Has this preference been deprecated or hardcoded to true in recent versions of Firefox?

   2. Is there any other way to disable the ICU4X-based segmenter or revert to the previous segmentation logic?

   3. If this is a known change, is there an alternative preference to adjust how word selection handles specific languages (e.g., Japanese)?

I went out of the USA on May to Ecuador and Peru, and on the same day the Android version of Thunderbird stopped retrieving new email from the server. I have used Thunderbird pointed to the same server on Windows 11 and Android successfully for years. I thought it might be something to do with being out of the country, but now I'm back in the USA, and sync account on Android still does not retrieve new mail that has accumulated since May 4th. I've been following my email using a webmail access so I know there's lots of new mail. I've closed and reopened Thunderbird on the Android, and I've tried sync account with the webmail access closed. I have not yet tried Thunderbird on my windows 11 laptop because I'm still not home yet. Any suggestions welcomed, thank you for your help! This morning I noticed that all emails prior to May 1 were missing from folders that I created. I assumed (incorrectly) that they were in the sbd file that I backed up in April. So I moved that file into the proper destination location but nothing popped up. I then restored the old sbd file back and now I don't even see any the the folders that I created. Note: when I click on the sbd file I do see the folders but they don't appear under Local Folders I've googled and used AI....no luck

I got an email that my subscription for Mozilla VPN has been cancelled a month from now. I wonder why? On the "What’s New | Firefox 151" page the new free VPN service is announced. Does it have anything to do with that? Not yet in my region (Sweden) though. Kind regards, Monika Ivarsson
