when I click on a link in search results I get sponsored results and not the link I requested
When I search in Google I get a list of results. When I select the one I want I do not go to that link. Instead, I get redirected to a list of "sponsored results" or am sent to an advertising page

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
