New mails in threads do not show up in bold

Hello,

I use Thunderbird ver 140.4.0esr (64-bit).

I have the problem that when a new mail arrives into a thread I do not see the thread as bolded. Only the oldest (read) mail appears in the list of emails. I have to open the threads to find out that there is an unread mail in the end of it (shown in bold and green dot).

How should I set the appearance so that the latest, unread appears on the top in bold, or that the thread somehow indicates that there is a unread message in it? I general I want the latest emails on the top, but for threads that does not apperar to work.

I have not realised this problem before, so I asuume it is caused by an update.

Mikael

Hi Mikael,

I rarely use threads, so I am no expert, and I do not know what may have changed over time. But I see in version 144.0.1 that data in the top message of a thread is undercored when there is an unread message in the thread. Do you see that?

I believe that threads are designed to sort in ascending chronological order at all times. That is their purpose: to show how discussions have flowed since the first message.

If you want to control sorting by date, you may want to use the conversations view. I keep a button for it on my main toolbar so I can access the conversation view for any discussion in one click.
