Getting machine language above the orginal message text when I am replying to that message

As per the subject - all of a sudden in my replies, I see machine language above the text of the original email I am replying to?

I have checked and unchecked Message Body options - but the machine language remains in the reply.

That machine language is not seen by the reply recipient, but is distracting to me as I type that reply above the original message

Note too that my reply is in 'normal' text above the machine language of the original message - so I can send normally

See if View>Headers is set to ALL. That may be the issue.

David - sadly it did not. But thank you for the prompt reply!

I think this may have started with the latest release on July 1 - but I am not certain of that

See example attached

I suggest downloading a fresh copy from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ then, shut thunderbird down and install over the top of it. I am suggesting this, because in my non-technical opinion, what is on your screenshot looks like something is corrupted.
