Customizing new tab: why can't my default search page be my new tab?
for home page i set DuckDuckGo, Yet, apart from setting one of those tiles for DuckDuckGo, i cannot Do what i want to do, which is simply to have my new tab EXACTLY the same as my new page.
And none of the sight answers seemed to help deal with this. They just went on aboput tiles, and how to customize, WITH TILES, or a blank page, but no longer let's me use my default search page as new tab?
Perhaps i about to do an about:config? And do something there? perhaps i am missing somethign very obvious?

The way you set the New Tab Page address was changed in Firefox 41 because the browser.newtab.url setting in about:config was constantly attacked by malware. Now you need an add-on to change the new tab page (or configure an external settings file, but an add-on is easier).
Here are some options:
- If you want to use your home page on the new tab: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/
- If you want to set a different page: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

Also, if you set your default search engine to be duckduckgo (it actually is part of Firefox) then just use the search bar on the new tab page, it will search duckduckgo. There's no real need to set duckduckgo as your new tab page.
No! No! No! It's my browser, on my PC, and if i want a new tab to be duckduckgo, then my new tab should be duckduckgo!
i neither want a blanc white page, nor a load of tiles....
yes, i know i just need to type into the URL bar.... but.....
