why are my Thunderbird contact export file void of any data except headings

I click on my Address Book tab and select the Thunderbird Email Contacts which displays my contacts. I then click on Tools then Export which presents a window allowing me to designate a file location. I select a folder and the default file name and save it. Next I go to the file and open it. It opens in Excel with only the field headings being displayed, i.e. no contacts. What am I doing wrong?

select an addressbook. then try the export. I do not think "all address books " works for export.

I have been selecting just one of my address books right along and it doesn't export. Thank you for your suggestion.
