Firefox closed properly before I upgraded. Never had this problem before.
T hanks.
Soluție aleasă
Here is the FIX:
(At least for me running Firefox under Windows 8.1 Pro)
Enable, by setting the pref to true on the about:config page:
browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = true
While there confirm:
browser.tabs.remote.autostart = true
With both set to true the “Firefox has stopped working" error Pop-up
message, when Exiting is no longer .
The remaining question:
Why was such a simple error allowed to be a part of the last two
upgrades?
[P.S. Throughout the existence of this Firefox error, Spybot S&D has been
fully running, confirming that Spybot is NOT the cause of this error.]

Thanks for the helpful FF config solution. While it may work for Spybot, it wont work for Malwarebytes, which grabs FF and wont let it close w/o the warning. It is possible that only the MBytes version that is no longer offered (the one that for a one time fee is permanently kept up to date w/o renewal fees) is the one that has the conflict. The Malwarebytes versions now offered may not have the problem.
I've had NO experience with Malwarebytes.
As for Spybot S&D, it is always kept up to date with latest upgrades. It and Norton AV are always running.
Update to "Here is the FIX":,
1. Please mark this PROBLEM as NO SOLUTION.
2. Microsoft released another Windows 8.1 Security Upgrade recently.
This caused the unwanted Pop-UP at EXIT to begin to show up again.
I checked the two modifications made in about:config, and they both are still "TRUE".
No such problem with Internet Explorer, nor Google Chrome, nor The Tor Browser which uses a pre-version 54 Fire Fox.
Did try using the Tor version of FF independently, but it would not run this way.....
Anyone have any ideas??
