Adobe Flash plug-in keeps crashing despite uninstalling/reinstalling

more options

I just upgraded my PC to Windows 10 Pro and everything is working well except for Firefox. I'm using the LATEST VERSION of FF and the Adobe Flash plug-in crashes every time I open the browser. I have already UNINSTALLED the plug-in and REINSTALLED it, yet it makes no difference. I still receive a crash notice. Would you please let me know what else I can do? This did not happen before upgrading to Windows 10 (I was using Windows 7 previously). Thank you!

Sorry to hear about the crashes. Did you already try the other steps in this article: Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again -- is anything there helpful?

Hi jscher2000,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I've done everything listed in the "Prevent it from happening again" and it's still crashing every time I open FF. :(

Does this also crash Firefox, or does Firefox work normally after the Flash crash?

If you are getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, your Firefox may have logged some data that would help track down the cause of the problem. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox crashes - asking for support" for steps to get those crash report IDs from the about:crashes page, and then post some of the recent ones here.

Also and/or meanwhile, if you haven't already, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features of Firefox that might make it more prone to crashing on some systems.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any less crashy?
