I have been using Blur, formally do not track me for years, and now in the addons page it tells me that Blur cannot be verified for use with FF 40, as well the screen capture would not upload to this post.

That indicates that you are using a version which was not signed by the Mozilla Add-ons people. Perhaps you haven't updated for a while (your Question Details > More System Details shows 4.5.1335), or you installed from the publisher's site instead of Mozilla Add-ons?

The current version on the Add-ons site is 4.9.1720 at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/donottrackplus/

You could try installing that.
