I am using a LG phone and the native video player includes features controls for touching the screen while playing that are very convinient when watching online videos.

Is there something in the about:config i could change or perhaps an addon i could make?

Depending on how the video is displayed there may be an Android icon in the address bar. Taping on that icon will open the video in an external player.
