to the right of the navigation bar is the search bar. the search bar has a drop down menu with a list of search engines. Currently, yahoo is the default. i have gone into "manage search engines" and then selected yahoo, then clicked on remove.

the problem is it keeps coming back, (as the default engine no less), after restarting firefox. i have disabled ALL extensions, but no plugins.

i have gone into about:config, did a word search with yahoo, and either reset the value or changed it to google. didnt help.

advice?

which file might the search engines be found? perhaps i could go and delete it there. note, searching for it didnt find it in explorer.

Hello ff2by2, try to delete the yahoo search plugin from C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins , it is an .xml file, and check it again.

thank you

dont companys realize that crapware makes users antagonistic? it is a self defeating ploy on their part.

You can also try to delete the search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder if the issue returns.
